The angel Petronel still works at the Heavenly Gate, but is convinced he deserves a better assignment. His eternal tempter, the devil Uriáš, begins to egg him on. All it takes is picking an apple from the Tree of Knowledge and he will know what only God knows! And the path to the recognition he deserves will be open. But Petronel's quarrel with Uriáš over the apple of Knowledge ends badly. In the scuffle, the precious fruit rolls all the way down to Earth. The bumbling angel and his friend the devil-tempter must rush down to the world to find the apple of Knowledge and bring it back. On the eve of the feast of Saint Nicholas, they become entangled in a whirlwind of extraordinary events. They encounter little Anežka and her beautiful mother Magdalena, a group of dishonest carol singers, the greedy Košťál, and the likeable Párkař. Before they manage to find the apple and return it to its rightful place, great adventures await, along with several dangerous situations. And after a series of human and divine trials, our heroes ultimately discover that the path to knowledge runs above all through oneself, through the discovery of the power of friendship, love, and the capacity for forgiveness.
